Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences

Through the Cognitive Psychology and Behavioural Neuroscience research area at the School of Psychological Sciences, biological bases of behaviour, the brain and nervous system are investigated. Some questions being asked include:

  • How does the brain translate perception into action?
  • How does early language development influence a person's life?
  • How does the brain represent numerical function?

In particular, researchers at Hester Lab use a range of cognitive tasks combined with event related fMRI designs to measure activation patterns in key brain areas implicated in reward, punishment, error, inhibition, feedback, learning and control.

More information is available at the Hester Lab website.
